Create a Credit Memo

You can create a credit memo and send it to a client from a web browser or the Invoice2go mobile app. This allows you to give customers credit for items they have returned or haven't received.

You can also include credit memos when creating a statement for a client. The total credit memo amount will be deducted from the total amount of invoices in the statement. You can remove credit memos from a statement by enabling the Only show unpaid invoices option.

iOS and Android

  1. From the navigation bar, tap the More icon
  2. Tap the Credit memos link
  3. Tap the + icon
  4. To rename the credit memo, tap the Edit icon next to the name
  5. In the Bill to field, tap the Add client link to select a client
    • Tap the name of the client you want to add
  6. Tap the Add items link
    • Enter the item name, description, rate, and quantity
    • To add additional information, tap the More options link
    • Tap the Checkmark icon
  7. View the subtotal and total
  8. To add photos to the purchase order, tap the Add photos link
  9. Enter any comments in the Comments field
  10. Tap the Next button
  11. View a preview of your credit memo
  12. To send the credit memo, tap the Send button

Web

  1. Click the Create icon in the side navigation menu. Then select the Credit memo option.
  2. This will bring you to the Add a credit memo screen, where you can click each field to add details for your purchase order.
  3. Enter client information:
    • Click Add a client
    • Click the line next Client name 
    • Either select a client from your client list that appears in the dropdown or type in a new client name
    • Click Save client
  4. Click the Add items link
    • Enter the item name, description, rate, and quantity
    • To add additional information, click the TAX, days or hours, discount link
    • Click the Add button
  5. To select an expense, click the Expenses link
  6. To add photos to the purchase order, click the Add photos link
  7. To add a comment, click the Add comment link
  8. To preview the purchase order, click the Preview tab
  9. To send the purchase order, click the Send tab. Then click the Send credit memo button.
  10. To save the purchase order, click the Save and close button
