How do I manually charge a card for an invoice with Invoice2go Money?

 

Manually charging a card is currently only available to a portion of all Invoice2go Money users. If you cannot follow the instructions in this article, this feature is not yet available for you to use.


If you have enabled Invoice2go Money, you manually enter a customer’s billing information to receive payment for an invoice.When you charge a customer's card from an invoice, they receive a receipt to any email address.

When charging a card, Invoice2go does not store credit card information and meets the same security standards as the client payment portal. To avoid credit card fraud, you should always take precautions to minimize risk.

iOS and Android 

  1. In the Navigation Bar, tap the Invoices icon
  2. Tap the invoice for which you want to charge a card
  3. From the preview screen, tap the Charge a card link
  4. If you are charging a card for the first time, view the details on the screen and tap the Continue button
  5. Enter the amount you want to charge in the Payment amount field
  6. Enter your client’s credit or debit card details, including the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address
  7. Your customer’s email address is automatically entered in the Email for receipt field. You can edit the email address in this field, if necessary.          
  8. Tap the Charge button

Web

  1. In the Navigation Menu, click the Invoices link
  2. Click the invoice for which you want to charge a card
  3. Click the Preview or Send tab 
  4. Click the Charge a card link
  5. If you are charging a card for the first time, view the details on the screen and tap the Continue button
  6. Enter the amount you want to charge in the Payment amount field
  7. Enter your client’s credit or debit card details, including the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address
  8. Your customer’s email address is automatically entered in the Email for receipt field. You can edit the email address in this field, if necessary.          
  9. Tap the Charge button

Security

Charging a Card on Invoice2go is compliant with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard. This standard ensures that companies accept, process, store, and transmit credit card information in a secure manner. Learn more about PCI compliance. When charging a card, Invoice2go does not store credit card information and meets the same security standards as the client payment portal.

When handling a customer’s credit card data, you have responsibility for protecting and securing that information.

  • Ensure that the payer is the correct person
  • If possible, collect card information from customer in person
  • If you collect information over the phone, ensure that no one else can hear or view a customer's card information. You may want to encrypt phone conversations, if necessary.
  • Do not store your customer’s credit card information or personal information
  • Shred or otherwise destroy any sensitive information received from your customers
